Inky Business
What do you think about girls with tattoos? i don’t mean the little ones.. the hearts, butterflies, stars ect.. or those ‘tramp stamps’.. (which don’t give them a great rep haha). I mean full sleeve, half sleeve ones, ‘i don’t care if my mother sees my tats’ tats.
Rodarte’s Spring 2010 RTW made up their models with bold, black, full and half sleeve ‘tattoos’ (it was just make-up, and is easily washed off, but that’s the effect they were going for). Usually the type of girl to have large tattoos isn’t walking around in a designer dress, so juxtaposing the rough and soft together creates an interesting combination.

Yves Klien Blue
We don’t like to name drop here at Vanguard, HOWEVER the boys from indie punk band Yves Klien Blue dropped into the office this week to pick up so new gear for a film clip they were recording this week.
The boys start their month long support tour of comeback kids Wolfmother tonight at the Tivoli in Brisbane before jetsetting off to the UK for a 2 month tour around the motherland.
Keep an eye out for some Vanguard Alchemy in their new film clip, or if you are lucky enough, on stage rocking out around the country.
YEN loves Vanguard
YEN magazine online just did a great post on Vanguard. Go and check it out. Thanks YEN!
The Glue Society
The Glue Soicety is an awesome creative company that produces very cleaver non traditional advertising.
Gary Freedman and Jonathan Kneebone, who started The Glue Society in 1998, wanted to create a set-up which was essentially creative through and through. Their work now encompasses everything from broadcast entertainment, commercial, print advertising, graphic design, books, art exhibition, live entertainment, installations and sculptures.

The Gallant
Our old school mates and Brisbane Indie Rockers, The Gallant have been experimenting with a few different genres of music over the past 9 years. Meeting up while getting an education (with us), they’ve been playing together since there was panic about Y2K and Limp Bizkit were at the top of the charts.
They have released a debut and follow up Extended Play album over the last 2 years and supported a number of other rad rockers including The Faint, British India and Yves Klein Blue to name a few.
Also, the bass guitarist Jordan has agreed to lend us his beautiful face for our upcoming Winter 10 lookbook with Darren, so keep a look out for that one.
To check out their music, which will blow your brains away, head to their website!
Festival Outfit Guide
The summer music festival season is almost upon us. Sure you might go for the bands and DJs or because you “love the atmosphere”, but who are we kidding, what we really think is awesome is the notion that you have a free pass to wear whatever you feel like.
But for those that don’t think fluro flares or stuffed pony backpacks are your thing, check out our new Alchemy range, where you’ll find perfect summer festival attire.
