Fireball – Saturday 4th September – Brisbane Riverfire!!

This weekend in Brisbane is Riverfire which, if those of you do not know what that means, is basically an all night party along the Brisbane River where every man, dog and catfish gets the best possible position along the river and parties the night away while watching the massive fireworks display and F1-11 ‘Dump and Burn’!  Usually we beg, borrow, steal the best apartment/boat/jetty we can find to set up camp for the night but this year our problems have been solved with “The Fireball”

Come and join us in the prime position of the new Riverlife spot on top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs and party the night away.  All drinks, canapes and dinner included from 4pm till 10pm so that a massive 6hours of partying before you even get to the VIP afterparty at Cloudland.  This looks set to change how we celebrate Riverfire from no on so dont miss out as tickets are moving.  All details below….see you there.

The Fireball: Riverfire Cocktail Party

Swooning Over Swoon

Meet Swoon. A graffiti and street artist from NYC who caught my eye with her eerily lifelike paper street people. Perhaps her name is a devotion to the viewer’s reaction, but her creations definitely bring a whole new level of intrique to the neighbourhoods they inhabit.

Swoon’s imagined world is populated by wheatpaste prints and paper cutouts, often her friends and family, who are sometimes charming, sometimes indifferent. They traverse bridges, firescapes, garage doors and street signs, weaving paths of  mystique wherever they go.

I envisage Swoon herself is a high-powered female who frolicks about the cityscape at night, leaving an enchanting trail of grafitti in dark alleyways and unoccupied corners. I certainly can’t wait to get my dirty mitts on her book.

Bam Brands set up another media night for their SS10/11 collections, but this time in Melbourne. Located in a loft found in a hidden lane way off Franklin street it was the perfect setting for the designer and blogger crowd.

Check out Bam’s facebook page where you’ll find lots more pictures and blogger reviews of the night.

Models in, celebrities out

Photobucket

FINALLY! I’ve always screwed up my nose when I  see celebrities being used as the face of designers brands, its just a bit tacky really. The lowest had to be  Lilly Alen for Chanel… when I think of Lily Allen I think of smeared mascara and a big binge night (which may be right or wrong, but thats the first thing that comes into my mind) which I sincerely doubt is what Lagerfeld was aiming for.. at least I hope not.

So I’m very happy to see that all the major designers are casting models for their fall 2010 campaigns.

-  Yves St. Laurent: Daria Werbowy
- Gucci: Raquel Zimmermann
-  Chanel: Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and Brad Kroenig
- Fendi: Anja Rubik and Baptiste Giabiconi
- Louis Vuitton: Christy Turlington, Karen Elson, and Natalia Vodianova (though these names are rumored, not confirmed)
-  Balenciaga: a cast of ten models, including Elson and Stella Tennant
- Roberto Cavalli: Gisele Bündchen
- Dior: Karlie Kloss

Great timing by Harpers Bazaar Australia, as their June/July cover features five rising Australian Models. Georgia Fowler, Stef Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Juliana Forge, Meg Lindsay and Stephanie Cherry

Creamfields, Brisbane – Want a Double Pass?

Thanks to our buddies at The Archade Creative we have a couple of double passes to Creamfields QLD in Brisbane on Monday 3rd May which is the Labour Day long weekend.

The organisers have got access to a nice patch of grass at near the airport this year so there will be no problems with the neighbours yelling out over the fence when they crank the likes of  The Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 (Band), MSTRKRFT and LMFAO into the afternoon.

For those that don’t know Creamfields began its life in Winchester (UK) in 1998, has established itself as the worlds greatest electronic music festival. Now in its 12th year it continues to dominate the festival market, spanning 17 countries and attracting a worldwide audience of nearly 3 million people.  Creamfields has already toured every continent and brings an all star cast to Australia in May this year.

All the info on how to get tickets is below but we are give a couple of people a chance to go along for free.  If you are interested email sales@vanguardfashion.com.au and ask us how to get your hands on them.

The teacher

A great lesson can be learnt from  Mark Hunter The Cobrasnake.

Im in constant awe how Mark is always surrounded by the most beautiful girls in every town he visits around the world.

I’ve come to the conclusion that girls, and even guys for that matter, will flock to you if you have a camera (digital SLR of course) and publish the photos on the internet.

If a guy wearing this shirt can pick up chicks, seriously go buy a camera and computer cord NOW!
